Dark Knuckles are overly dark patches on finger joints. Although dark knuckles are harmless but it is very unpleasant and it shows irregular skin which usually gives you a stare from people you meet. 



Some dark knuckles is the effect of an underlying condition. However, some might be your skin reacting to something. Below are the major causes of dark knuckles.

CAUSES OF DARK KNUCKLES

1. Lack of Vitamin B12: Foods derived from animals, such as meat, fish, poultry, and dairy, naturally contain vitamin B12.  An early and readily noticeable indicator of a vitamin B12 deficiency is knuckle coloration. Consequently, when you don't have this, your knuckles start to turn dark.

2. Drug reaction: You could be experiencing a medication reaction to an oral contraceptive, powerful corticosteroid, or niacin if you have darker pigmentation. The cause of black knuckles is merely a side effect of certain medications.

3. Cream reaction: Because dark knuckles on the hands and legs, as well as areas like the ankle bones and knee cap, are often caused by over-the-counter skin bleaching products, they mostly cause harm. This is a result of certain chemicals they contain, which only function well on the body's straight sections—the knuckles, for example, and other folded parts of the body do not respond well to them.

4. Diabetes: Diabetic individuals frequently have dark knuckles as well. Diabetes is indicated when you start to notice that your knuckles are becoming extremely dark without taking any harsh medications or applying a bleaching cream.


HOME REMEDIES FOR REMOVING DARK KNUCKLES

1. Lemon and Honey Mix: Apply a gel made of two teaspoons lemon juice and one teaspoon honey thoroughly to your knuckles. After letting it sit for ten to fifteen minutes, rinse it off with warm water. After a week of doing these, you ought to start to experience results. Alternatively, you could just use the raw lemon fruit—slice it, rub it on your knuckles.
