WIG INSTALLATION; ITEMS AND PROCESSES YOU SHOULD FOLLOW

In the beauty sector, wigs are currently very popular. For celebrities who frequently attend events and want to swiftly switch up their hairdo without harming their own hair, they have long been a go-to option.

I love DIY, and you should too. Personally there are many things I can do myself, from braiding to wig making, dress making and even makeup.

Wig installation is awesome if done by a professional, however do you have to go to a salon each time you want to install your wigs? You should be able to install your wigs, therefore if you feel the need to use a professional, it will be out pleasure not because you cannot Do It Yourself.

What's necessary to install a wig

  1. Wig cap
  2. Scissors
  3. Hair clips
  4. Blow dryer
  5. Comb or Brush
  6. Hot Comb or Flat iron
  7. Wig glue
  8. Hair freeze spray

Steps to follow

  1. Hair preparation: It is paramount to make your cornrows as this is the first step to installing a neat wig. By doing this, you can avoid having a bumpy appearance by having your hair lay flat below the wig. The importance of hair health can not be underestimated, therefore before braiding it, make sure it has been thoroughly cleaned, detangled, and moisturized.
  2. Put on your wig cap: Your wig cap should be worn on your head as if it is to cover your face and ears. This to make sure you do not have too much air space. Carefully, use your scissors to cut the eyes and ears, to make it look you are wearing a mask.  Then melt it down with your hair freeze spray. Afterwards, you blow dry it to ensure it stays, then cut out the excesses, usually starting from the beginning of your hairline. A wig cap is a wonderful protective style that keeps your strands safe and tucked away, encouraging development and length retention. NOTE: You should use wig caps that goes with your complexion and when you can't find any, you can use your foundation shade to bleach it.
  3. Apply your wig glue: When your wig cap is properly laid, you move on to applying your glue on the wig cap. You can use your blow dryer to ensure it is dry to sticky. I recommend that you apply about two to three coats, this is to ensure that the wig last well.
  4. Put your wig on: Once your wig cap is secured enough and your glue is properly dry, you go on to put your wig. Now, this step needs all the attention required. You make sure wig lace is placed on your hairline or a little after your hairline, this is to give it a natural look. You will need your mirror handy, if you see that is well placed, you can go on to the next step.
  5. Cut out the lace: If you placed the wig well, then you should see the wig excesses right in front. Here you will need your scissors, cut out the excesses carefully following the hairline. Make sure to do it in a spiky way to make it look natural. Using a small scissors can help you achieve this, as a big scissor will definitely obstruct you. Spray your hair freeze.
  6. Style your hair: After you spray you hair freeze spray, hold down your hair with hair band, this is to make sure the edges melt in well. Use your hot comb to comb it to give a sleeky look. Styling is according to your mood, as I say mostly. Style however you want and look good.
Now look at the mirror, how did you do? Is it perfect or you need continuous practice? Do not worry because you are good and you will make a great hair stylist for yourself.
Happy Styling!
