In our quest to eat healthy food, there are some that can cause or prevent cancer. Some foods can increase the risk of cancer because of the compounds while for some, the risk is very low. Below foods can cause cancer and we even eat them everyday.
Preserved food
These are foods salted, pickled or smoked. Meats such as bacon, sausage, bologna, and salami are high in fat and salt. This is because processed meats contain several chemicals and preservatives, including sodium nitrates, which make them, look appealing and fresh but are well-known carcinogens which contains salt, thereby increasing the risk of getting colorectal cancer and stomach cancer.
Potato chips
Potato chips has trans-fats which can cause high cholesterol. They have excessive sodium levels which, cause high blood pressure. Potato chips do not only lead to weight gain.
Salmon
Farmed salmon are fed chemicals to make their meat that reddish pink color that should occur naturally but doesn’t because of the diet of chicken litter that they are fed. This feeds contain chemicals, antibiotics, pesticides, and other known carcinogens that causes cancer.
GMO fruits
Genetically Modified fruits contains herbicides and pesticides such as atrazine, thiodicarb, and organophosphates as well as high levels of plant fertilizers. And this causes severe damage to our organs, particularly those in the reproductive system.
Processed White Flours
Mills now bleach flour with chlorine gas and that chlorine gas is a dangerous irritant that is not safe to inhale and in large quantities can be lethal.
Alcohol
Even though, low consumption of alcohol can be healthy and lead to a reduced risk of heart disease, excessive drinking is known to cause heart failure, stroke, and sudden death. Alcohol is one of the cause of cancer.
Canned Tomatoes
Canned food is a NO. And even it is to be consumed, it must be low. Canned foods are made with a chemical called bisphenol-A, or BPA and tomatoes are not good due to high acidity when preserved.
Refined sugars
As we all know, cancer loves sweets. To prevent any risk of cancer, it is a good idea to stay away from desserts and sweetened foods.
